Over the 4th of July holiday, we were blessed to spend some more family time together and make a trip up to Little Rock to see Kim and Shane. The boys were so excited to spend TWO nights with "KK!" It is a treat for them to spend time with their Aunt Kim...they are always happy to see her, sad/mad when she has to go or they have to leave! Sometimes our visits with her are brief, but they love every minute.
Kim always looks special things for the boys to do while they are visiting. She greeted us with a list of options and a menu of food planned for our stay. One thing is for sure...when you visit Kim and Shane, you definitely don't go hungry. Wow! We had a fantastic Mexican dinner of tamales, chicken tacos, homemade salsa and guacamole finished off by berry shortcake for desert our first night there! Followed by amazing smoked brisket and homemade ice cream on the fourth. Thanks Chef Shane...it was AMAZING! I'm so bummed we forgot our leftovers to take home!
The boys played in the sprinklers and played football with Rocky in the backyard. Then we all walked to the school close to their house to play on the playground. The boys were figuring out how to get up the rock wall...even "KK" gave it a try. Unfortunately, Eli ended up getting stung by a few red wasps ("waspers" as he calls them)...they got him once on the arm, face and ear. We thought he had fallen at first and then I saw 3 or 4 of them buzzing around the area where he was climbing and new. He was brave...we got him home, doctored him up and he was fine. The next morning, I was expecting his bites to be somewhat swollen, but all you could see was a small red dot. Must've been the "Red Man!"
We went up to Pinnacle Mountain for a hike Friday morning. The boys had fun on the rugged trail. Noah enjoyed trying to maneuver around the the rocks, but Eli was more interested in finding bugs to collect in his bug box. We found two ants and put a piece of bark inside for their "home," but he was disappointed that all he could find were ants. I told him, they must not have as many bugs in Little Rock as we do at home!
Before we new it, it was time to come home...Noah summed it up best as we were leaving Kim and Shane's house yesterday..."I wish I could rewind this trip and start it all over again!"
Thank you for everything...we all had an excellent time! We look forward to coming again soon! Love you guys!
